The first time I heard the Singleman Affair was at a No Kids (remember them?) show at Subterranean. Dan Schneider (the Singleman) played a brief solo set and discussed how he got added last minute, and was glad to play in front of such a packed house. I enjoyed his songs, but they were very mellow and I could hardly hear him over the buzz of the big crowd. A couple years before the Singleman session, I heard Dan in mellow form again while he improvised with the Chicago-based hall of fame modern rock/jazz/improv troupe DRMWPN. Needless to say I was blown away by the boisterous energy that Dan and his all-star bandmates carried as they blazed through a relatively long set for CHS. The band effortlessly executed a mixed bag of some previously recorded stuff, but I think the majority of the tracks are unreleased. So please, without further ado, rock out for a bit with eight rollicking cuts from the Singleman Affair.
