It is said that the difference between a genius and a madman is all in whether one succeeds, and this is a distinction that looms almost as large as the legend of Bobby Conn and his amazing band. There is little to be gained by going over their past accomplishments as these are a matter of much high-profile discussion. Rather, all I can do is attempt to express my sheer astonishment and wonder that I was once privileged enough to share a room with them, let alone be intoxicated by their sweet siren song. To see them together recalls what it must have been like to see a young Mozart in his day, and while mere electronic circuits lament their limited ability to reproduce this experience, they are the best we have for capturing this celebrated Chicago legend. What can be said about Bobby Conn? I think it's best to allow success to speak for itself.
